DIG DEEP eVENT
At CRE, we believe leadership extends beyond the projects we deliver.
In 2022, CRE Directors Michael Harding and Patrick Doheny identified an opportunity to address one of the construction industry's most significant challenges: mental health. Rather than simply supporting an existing fundraising initiative, they created one.
Driven by a shared belief that the industry could do more to support its people, Michael and Patrick established the Dig Deep Event, bringing together contractors, suppliers, clients and industry partners to raise awareness and funds for Beyond Blue. Importantly, the event was not outsourced to professional event organisers. It was conceived, planned and delivered through the commitment, leadership and industry relationships built by Michael, Patrick and the wider CRE team.
Through the strength of industry relationships and a shared commitment to supporting mental health, more than 6,000 people attended the event and over $375,429 was raised for Beyond Blue. The result demonstrated what can be achieved when an industry comes together to support the wellbeing of its people. Beyond the funds raised, Dig Deep created a platform for meaningful conversations about mental health in an industry where long hours, remote work, physically demanding environments and the pressures of project delivery can have a significant impact on wellbeing.
The event brought together people from across the earthmoving, construction and infrastructure sectors, creating an opportunity to raise awareness, reduce stigma and reinforce the importance of supporting one another both on and off the job. For CRE, Dig Deep reflects the values that continue to guide our business today. We believe successful organisations have a responsibility to contribute positively to the industries and communities in which they operate, and that creating social value requires action rather than intention.
