CRE is trialling the Speedshield AiVA Pedestrian Detection System to explore how AI-enabled camera technology can help reduce one of construction’s highest-risk activities: plant and pedestrian interaction.
The Posi-Track was selected due to its close interaction with ground personnel during trimming, lining and detailed earthworks activities.
The system uses AI-enabled cameras with real-time visual and audible alerts to identify personnel entering potential blind-spot areas.
The trial is assessing usability, detection performance, reliability, live site conditions and integration with existing controls.
The technology is not intended to replace existing controls. It is being evaluated as an additional layer of protection within CRE’s broader critical risk management framework.
